An inside look on
the child victims of
Hurricane Katrina

Hi, My name is Janet McCarthy.

A little bit about us: we live in Miami and experienced both Hurricane Andrew AND Wilma. Therefore we know giving money is important. However, we wanted to touch people on a personal level, too. My daughter, Jaiden who is 5 1/2 sleeps with her Princess sleeping bag on top of her bed. She loves it. Then we thought as Hurricane Katrina victims are moving from place to place, wouldn't it be great if they could carry their own personal sleeping bag with them. There's a good possibility that this will make them feel much more comfortable in a strange surrounding. This is how we came up with the Katrina Sleeping Bags idea. If you would like to add a personal message in the sleeping bag, please do. Let's show them we care.

You can personally contact me at 1-800-522-2114 x 8046 or email me at if necessary.

Our Goal:

  • Collect as many Sleeping Bags as possible to help Hurricane Katrina survivors have a comfortable, portable place to sleep.

What We're Looking For:
  • New, lightweight, child or adult size sleeping bags
